NUCA is a Combined Martial Arts Combat System that incorporates different fighting systems including:-
Okinawan GoJu Ryu Karate, Zen Do Kai, Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do
Brazilian Jui Jitsu, Okinawan Kobudo, Close Quarter Combat Fighting
Eskrima, Knife Fighting and Street Weapons

NUCA is based on the Sunshine Coast in beautiful South East Queensland. Our SMART Urban Combat System was developed as a means of providing self defence training to meet today's needs. At the foundation of our style are techniques from Okinawan Goju Ryu and Zen Do Kai as well as Brazilian Jui Jitsu and Muay Thai. The system was created as a result of an obvious need for a street system as opposed to a sports style martial art.

OUR FOUNDER
Grant Rohde (our founder ) has been training in Martial Arts for over 39 years and has been running the Coastal Dragons Dojo on the Sunshine Coast since April 2000. Kyoshi Grant is currently a 6th Degree in NUCA and he also hold a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Okinawan GoJu Ryu Karate. He was formerly a 5th degree in Zen Do Kai having spent 36 years training in Bob Jones Martial Arts and he holds Belts in several other styles including a 2nd degree in BJC Muay Thai.

Okinawan GoJu Ryu Kenkyukai
This is a karate organisation set up to promote research into the practical application of Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate kata and technique. It was instituted by Masaji Taira Sensei (9th dan, Hanshi), to provide a collaborative learning group of like-minded pracitioners to collectively advance our karate..

Taira Sensei heads the Okinawa Goju Ryu Kenkyukai, is best known as a researcher and practitioner of the bunkai of Goju Ryu kata, and is renown for being unusually open in his teachings, feeling that the techniques and learning must be shared, for their preservation and to test their effective
